Speculation is mounting that new boy band 1 direction could do very well on the X Factor this year thanks to the Justin Bieber effect.

1 Direction is made up of 5 boy’s age 16 to 17 that auditioned as solo acts but failed to make it through to the judge’s houses in the boy’s category. However, the judges thought that they were too talented to let go and decided to form a boy band and a girl band from 4 girls – also deemed too talented to loose – in order to bolster the group’s category.

Now the lucky 1 Direction members Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zain Malik have an opportunity to achieve the success they were seeking just when they thought it was all over for them at bootcamp.

The boys, mentored by Simon Cowell – who has a very good record in mentoring groups in The X Factor – are all a round the same age as Justin Bieber and are expected to go through to the X Factor live finals that starts next week.
