The Great British Menu kicked off on our screens this week and in the past couple of days the three chefs trying to represent Northern Ireland to cook at a banquet marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day, have battled in the heat of the kitchen to serve up some eye-catching dishes.
Raymond McArdle, Richard Corrigan’s protégé Chris McGowan and young gun Will Brown, has had their patriotic dishes scrutinized by two Michelin stared chef Tom Kerridge and invited guest chefs.
Tom, who honed his skills in the Cotswolds, is not only one of Britain’s finest Chefs, but he has also won the Great British Menu contest twice.
After the starter round came the fish round, and in this round Tom judged Chris McGowan’s dish the winner awarding him eight points.
But in the main course round, all three chefs were tied with seven points for their dishes. It is therefore all to play for/cook for, in the dessert round to see who will go through to the next round to face the veteran judges.
