Kirsty Allsop came to Jamie and Jimmy’s kitchen to cook one of her favourite Indian dish, but Jamie and Jimmy surprised her with a bottle of a long lost family drink all the way from the USA.

Kirsty’s family comes from a long line of brewers, and in tonight’s episode of Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, Kirsty spoke about a few of the beers her family produced in the past. One of which was the Arctic beer which was commissioned by Queen Victoria.

The queen wanted a beer that was life sustaining and that could be consumed by Arctic explores and invited the country’s best known brewers to compete to see who could deliver a beer to meet her brief.

It was Allsop brewer that won, and last summer Jamie and Jimmy flew in a beer historian from the States that brought with him a bottle of a beer brewed by Kirsty’s family company in 1875. Kirsty was invited to taste the 130 year old beer and said it was delicious.
