Prue Leith showcased her delicious custard pie on The Great Celebrity Bake Off Stand Up to Cancer. Prue provided the recipe to the celebrities for this week’s technical challenge.
The celebs in the tent baking to raise funds for cancer research were: Alan Carr, Aisling Bea, Kadeena Cox and Teri Hatcher.
The ingredients for the pie’s shortcrust pastry are: 170g plain flour, plus extra for dusting, pinch of salt, 100g unsalted butter, cut into cubes, 2 tbsp icing sugar, sifted, 1 medium egg yolk and 2-3 tbsp cold water.
For the creme patissiere: 450ml whole milk, 4 Burford Brown egg yolks, 75g caster sugar, 25g plain flour, 25g cornflour, 1 tsp vanilla essence and 450ml double cream.
