The other groups of products tested such as Cabbage sauerkraut and Vegetarian kimchi, showed greater benefits if you were to make your own.
However the advice given was: “Remember that if you’re making your own fermented foods it’s important to prepare them safely so as not to encourage the growth of ‘bad’ bacteria. This means using the right equipment and ingredients.”
