A soul and R&B sensation. This may be the best way to
describe Lemar's musical talents. He is possibly the best soul and
R&B artist to immerge on the UK music scene in a generation.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Lemar grew up listening to Soul
Music and R&B. He used to sing at home with his brothers and
sister, pretending to be The Jacksons.
At the age of seventeen he performed his first concert in London
supporting Usher. However, it was was not until he entered the first
series of Fame
Academy in 2002 that he became known to the general public. He finished
the competition in third place, but it was clear
quite early on that he did not have to win the competition to guarantee
commercial
success.
During the show he performed a duet with Lionel Richie, who predicted
at the time that Lemar would be a great success. Lemar has gone on to
release successful albums in the UK, two of which were top 10
hits.
