It was written by Mark James in 1968 but was not made famous until Elvis recorded it in 1969.<\/p>\n<p>23 year-old Mike Ward is a natural country singer which is why he also decided to perform Don\u2019t Close Your Eyes by Keith Whitley in the final of The Voice to remind voters of his strength. The song was originally released by Keith Whitley in 1988 and was taken form his album with the same name.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"330\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O1suiNZ-IlU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Last but not \u00a0least, the lad from Salford sings with his mentor Tom Jones performing one of Tom&#8217;s greatest hits Green Green Grass of Home.
