In the first elimination of this year\u2019s series of So You think You Can Dance, the axe fell on Ryhan Jenkins and Paige Smith.<\/p>\n

As the tension mounts in the studio, Cat Deeley revealed that Stephanie & Ryan and Paige & Gian Luca had the least number of public votes and were in the \u2018danger zone\u2019, having to dance for their lives to stay in the competition.<\/p>\n

The four dancers then gave their all in a 30 second solo and the judges then decided which girl and wich guy should stay and who should go. After they delivered their routines, Nigel said to the four dancers:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so tough. I have to say, first night of the competition and it\u2019s so sad that people have to go home<\/a> straight away and not have time to grow. That\u2019s the way it works I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n

\u201cGian Luca\u2026 It\u2019s very difficult to judge you this evening as you were let down obviously very badly by your partner. However, when we look at you we know that you have got great technique, and we will be judging you on things that have occurred in the past, and what we know of your dancing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nigel continued, \u201cRyan it\u2019s quite interesting, that you said in one of the video packages there \u201cwhat have I got to do to impress Nigel?\u201d. It isn\u2019t \u2013 or wasn\u2019t \u2013 about impressing me, it\u2019s about impressing the country. Obviously you didn\u2019t do that as you\u2019re in the bottom two couples tonight. Ryan \u2013 a good dancer will make a routine great. It wasn\u2019t memorable.\u201d<\/p>\n

To the girls, Nigel\u2019s comments were, \u201cPaige, what can I say darling, you are such a fun fireball of talent. Tonight it all just went away \u2013 again we have to judge you I think on things we\u2019ve seen in the past, rather than just tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cStephanie \u2013 you served it up tonight, you showed us how a sexy Latin routine should look. You were very beautiful in doing that. But your first routine was not memorable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are unanimous with our decision Cat this evening, and the people going home tonight \u2013 Paige and Ryan would you step forward please \u2013 I\u2019m so sorry you will be leaving us this evening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflecting back on the results of tonight\u2019s show, a teary Paige stated \u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed every moment \u2013 the highs and the lows. Loved all the choreographers, I\u2019ve learnt so much. I\u2019m a young dancer, now I am just going to grow\u201d.<\/p>\n

And for Ryan, \u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing experience, and I\u2019ve learnt so much working with the top choreographers. I\u2019m hoping to take these experiences through to my choreography career. I\u2019ve made so many friends in this competition. I wish everyone the best of luck and I\u2019ll be watching and supporting from home!\u201d<\/p>\n
