This year Marlon said he made a lot of changes to how he looks and performs.<\/p>\n<p>After his performance Simon told him:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201c\u2019I\u2019ve got to be honest, when you said you were going to sing Ain\u2019t No Sunshine, I thought oh god we\u2019re going to hear that same old version we\u2019ve heard thousands of times. The fact that you came with your own version of it, actually made the song sound incredibly current, I\u2019ve got a good feeling about you as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the ITV This Morning program, Marlon was asked why he failed to make it past bootcamp before, he replied:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2008 I didn\u2019t stand out. It was safe performance which got me sent home. In 2005 I was a bit of a mess up. I messed up the key with the pianist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, this year\u2019s audition was different\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI came back, I thought about the performance, the song, the image just tried to keep everything\u2026.eye on the prize you know!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said that he considered not returning to the show:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t going to audition this year,\u201d he revealed, \u201cbut I thought if I go and they say no, at least I\u2019ll know. If I don\u2019t go, I\u2019d never have known if it was a no or a yes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018For me it\u2019s like, you just don\u2019t give up on you dreams. If it doesn\u2019t work out you go back, you just keep trying.
