Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Showcase wins at The National Television Awards

michael mcintyre nta 2012Stand-up comic Michael McIntyre won the best entertainment programme award at the National Television Awards last night for his Comedy Roadshow TV series.

The stand-up showcase triumphed over fellow nominees Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Take Me Out and Dynamo: Magician Impossible at the event in London’s O2 Arena.

He was presented his award by X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos; McIntyre said: ‘I can’t believe it.’
He added: ‘I don’t think I should have won. Harry Hill should have won!’

The winners – which are chosen by audience vote – also included Celebrity Juice, which won best comedy panel show over Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and QI.

The best sitcom gong went to Outnumbered, which beat Miranda and Benidorm; while Alan Carr’s Chatty Man beat Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton to the best talk show prize.

Carr joked: ‘I haven’t won anything in ages so it’s just nice to win. I thought bloody Loose Women would win.’
